Dylan’s “SEAS” Story

I would like to share a personal struggle I have been learning to cope with in a healthy and positive manner. I unexpectedly lost my beloved mother to suicide in 2009. This was an immense surprise because it was my mother who taught me the essences of being positive. There were several paths I could have taken to cope with the pain and confusion of having lost my mother, many of which would have been unhealthy and destructive. Rather than adopting negative outlets, such as substance abuse, I created my own route. In my attempt to move forward and live positively, I created Riegler Management, a ground and facility maintenance company, which has been expanding everyday faster than I could have imagined. My success is not the company, but having developed a passage to overcoming the challenges of my situation, and providing myself with life-changing alternatives.
Because overcoming this affliction on my own was not easy, my friend Dania and I established SEAS the Day (Stay Educated About Suicide), a foundation located in Cincinnati, OH, in April 2012. Soon SEAS the Day became essential in helping others cope and redirect their hardships in positive ways, whether through the expression of art, music, physical activity, counseling, reading, or any other mind liberating activities. With your help and support, together we can create avenues that will help unfold our vision before our eyes. You have read my story, now it is time to hear yours and continue the inspiration. SEAS the Day!
